THE DRAGS!
I don’t mean ‘drag’ like the blues, I am talking about drag racing at New York International Speedway Park! What a freak’in rush! I loved it. We went out last Friday for a ‘test and tune’ and MOM’s (Mustang on Mustang) night, and I put the new Bullitt Mustang through it’s paces a few times. Wow that was fun, the car performed quite well, and I performed decent. The track was not as sticky as I had anticipated, so it took a couple of passes on the quarter mile track to get the feel of the power to traction ratio. By nights end I ran the car at 14.1 seconds at 101.5 MPH against a vintage Mach 1 351 who was running about 10 car lengths behind me. Sorry Otis! Of course some guy ran a low 12 against me and it looked like I was parked. We are back at the track on July 25th and their web-site is NYIRP.com
Well that’s it for now, a shorter blog by design, as my first one was quite lengthy and introspective, and I fear my next may be a fiery political diatribe…

14.1? You’ve gotta be kidding. I used to run my 95′ LT1 Z28 that I bought for 8K at a used car dealership in Batavia. I ran on wednesdays and posted a 13.9 on my best run. The car was completely stock although I suspect that it was chipped by the previous owner. The car was then purchased by John Pellican who has been racing at NYIRP for years. His father Ronny owns Pellican auto in Mt.Morris. John now has a Nova thats running 9’s. They call that car a what? a Bullitt! They should call it a BB gun….lol.

Damn Seth that’s harsh. I was told the track was mega-sticky and it was not. I did not lower my air pressure in the rear and could not hook up for shit. Hot humid air, stock air filter, and no grip were all working against me on my first ever outing. Clearly the car could pull mid 13’s under better conditions. One magazine tested it at 13.29 @ 105 mph. Of course, my revealing that makes my driving all the more suspect. By the way, many BB guns attain comparable ‘feet per second’ as do bullet firing guns. So there! Ha!

Sorry bro, I was a little tough on ya. Track conditions and weather can make a huge difference. I’m sure the car kicks ass. Good luck with it!

Robinson. Have you been practicing your shifting?
Last time I rode with you, you were stalling the beast and missing shifts. lol
We’ll have to try again next year.

Now Al, that’s not fair! Clearly I was distracted by the poker run!
